Bubinga Serving Tray
Original design, 2003. Approx. 16" x 21". I made this piece as a wedding gift for my cousin.
The sides are bubinga, a very hard and attractive African wood.  The bottom is plywood, and I
bought the center inlay strip from Woodcraft.  The sides are joined with dovetails (handcut of
course).  I cut the grooves in the sides (that the bottom fits into) with my trusty #50 plow
plane.  The finish is wiped-on gloss polyurethane, rubbed with 0000 steel wool to a satin sheen.
