Bench. 1996. Solid maple and walnut, natural finish. From published
plans. Hand-cut dovetail and wedged through-tenon joinery. Again,
there's no metal in this one, just joints and glue.
Bench. 2006. Jennifer asked me to make a mate for the halfmoon bench in the
opposite color scheme, so I obliged and made this one. It's not exactly the same size
(production tolerances you know) but it's much better made! They're both maple
and walnut, and though they are different colors, they aren't nearly this different!
My digital photography has improved along with my woodworking...
My joinery has certainly improved over ten years. The first bench is full of wood
filler.. this one, well, it's pretty clean.
